This is the Lamborghini Murciélago SV, a more powerful, lightweight, rear-wheel-drive edition planned for launch later this year.
The SV, expected to be the last evolution of the Lambo’s range-topper, will be based on the current LP640 flagship.
Insiders at Sant’Agata claim that the SV will have more power than the 641bhp V12 Reventon, and should lose at least 100kg over the 1660kg LP640. Power output is expected to be around 680bhp.

Electric! Didn't realise Murciélago only weighed 1,600kg! And this SV will be 100kg less with 640bhp. Bit like the Elise which is half the Lambos weight with a 320bhp engine in it rather than the range topping 200bhp unit it has currently. I can only imagine what this goes like! Must be phenominal. 

Wow! AUDI has allowed Lambo to ditch the heavy quattro, sorry... I mean 4-wheel drive system? Looks like the next Lambo Gallardo LP550-4 will be joined by a LP550-2 with rear-wheel drive aswell. Im really shocked AUDI is doing this. Its a very significant move. It means AUDI finally accept that rear-wheel drive IS more fun and allows the 'ultimate driving experience'.

Could this signal the possibilty of rear-wheel drive in future AUDIS? A lightweight rear-wheel drive R8 perhaps...? AUDI have spent so much time perservering with a longitudinal engine layout in the A4/A6/A8 and all the packaging compromises this requires that they may aswell covert the entire lot to rear-wheel drive with the option of quattro on top models. Then they could really take on BMW to become the sportiest premium brand.

This is going to be a SWEET car. 680BHP more than any of it's rivels and now with rear whell drive. I can't wait to see a road test on this.

Irony actually. One would think with more power, four wheel drive would be neccessary but Lamborghini has chosen to go the other way around.

 So it has to be what quattro369 said which makes the most sense, they did it for the driving experience.

I think it's the LP560-4 and not LP550-4? ;)

Doesn't this pull the rug from the colossally expensive, limited edition, Reventon somewhat? I'll bet those who forked out the equivalent of a small country's annual budget on the Reventon will be thrilled to hear about the more powerful and, probably, more dynamic SV. 

The only thing i don't like about this car is the Massive Spoiler at the back, looks ugly. The rest of the car is gorgeous... no doubt about that what so ever.

The Murciélago SV takes its name from the Diablo SV, which also lost its four-wheel drive system in favour of rear-wheel drive.

The Diablo was originally a rear wheel drive car. AWD was added approximately 3 years after launch in the VT.
