  • Lotus Exige gets a power boost

    Feb 21, 2008 1:01 PM

This is the most powerful Lotus Exige on sale.
The Sport Cup 260 is a new special edition giving the Exige's 1.8-litre supercharged engine 257bhp; a 5bhp boost over the 2007 Exige Cup. Kerb weight is just 928kg, giving a power to weight ratio of 271bhp per tonne.

The standard Exige S does 0-100 in 9.9 and that "only" has 220bhp!

They are the masters of track weaponry, but can you really live with them on a day to day basis. After all, the engine should give plenty of trouble free miles being form Toyota. But what about the limited creature comforts?

I think that's an exellent question. Can you live with one on a day-to-day basis ? Anyone got any real world experience of trying it ?

I think someone prepared to spend £41k on a lotus exige is very unlikely to have it as their only car in the same way that some elise owners do, so living with it day-to-day is not likely to be an issue.

I drive a VX220 into work almost every day and while it's less extreme than an exige it's in the same ballpark. So it's not unreasonable that someone could regularly use an exige on the nice days and run it alongside a ford focus.
