Audi has opened the order book on the new go-faster, 268bhp TT – the TTS – today. The coupe version will cost £33,380 – that’s slightly more than a BMW Z4 Coupe 3.0si Sport, but a couple of grand less than a base 2.7-litre Porsche Cayman.
If you’d prefer an open-top TTS, it’ll cost you £35,380 – putting it in the questionable position of being more than £2k more than a Porsche Boxster.

£3.5k for an extra 18 bhp and a few non-essential goodies, mmm... fools and their money... 

Just get the lower priced one remapped for £500 for about 60bhp increase.

This is what forums are all about... good advise Gentlemen :-)

Or just buy a Z4 Coupe or Boxster instead!

If you buy a 'normal' TT then pay me rather than Audi the £3,500 surcharge, I'll happily let you have the keys to my Coupe; hey presto an extra 220bhp and I throw in a free body shell and fittings!

Your Coupe - is it an 'R811 ***' reg in Portofino Blue? Looks a lot like my old motor...

Sorry fella, she is a Portofino but not a R811 reg.  Considering how few were sold here and how many must have been scrapped by now, I'm amazed how many I see on the road.

£194 per extra BHP, doe Audi seriously think about the customer! Thats a digusting amount of money for an 'S' bagde, just get a chip!

Its a great car, I had a red 16V Turbo followed by the Porto 20V Turbo which I only got rid of due to getting company car. Its amazing really that 10 years after my old 20V Turbo was first registered, the majority of coupe-style motors out there are slower, less 'bespoke', way more expensive and less economical. The 20V Turbo does 155mph, zero to 60 in just over 6 secs, has tremendous third-gear acceleration, a beautiful interior that still looks great today, decent economy and sounds fantastic --- yet you can pick one up for pennies (I only got £2k for mine, sold last year).

 

Get a remap for £500 and use the savings to spec the S line suspension, the 19 inch 255 35 ZR 19 wheels and tyres and the electronic /magnetic dampers and then it will be every bit as quick as the heavier TT-S and a lot cheaper too.
