  • BMW M5

BMW pretty much invented the appealing but unlikely idea of serving supercar pace in an executive saloon and, when it emerged in 1984, the first M5 delivered not only fine performance but excellent handling, too. Though it has been a minority interest model, the format prompted Mercedes to leap in, first with the 500E and then with its AMG E55s, Jaguar with the XJR and Audi with its RS6. More recently, Maserati used the excellent, previous-generation M5 as its benchmark for the Quattroporte, tho...Read the full article

This car is just AMAZING! Me and my Dad has one for the day a couple of weeks ago.The way it just goes from being a family car to being a car that can beat nearly anything else on this Planet. If you want descent MPG get the 535D that is still a very very good car and alot of low end tourque for quick and easy overtaking.

Now some on here will know I am not a BMW fan, but the one car in the entire BMW range I admit to liking is this car.

It is, to my eyes, the only car that suits the Bangle design, it has relative exclusivity into the bargain too.

Would I own one if I could afford one? No.

Caeser ruled with an iron hand, then with a wooden foot and finally with a piece of string.

Hi Jon, just curious as to the reason for your hate of all things BMW ?

You say in your profile you are a car nut, yet anyone in that position has to appreciate the roll and importance of the marque in motoring history.

    I personally don`t drive a bm.

    regards.

    Thanks for listening !

This is without a doubt one of the greatest cars in the world today and IMO the best pound-for-pound car in the world. Others may now offer a similar 'bang for your buck' but not with the same breadth of abilities this 5-star car displays.

This car is just legendary. even the older model is a bahn stormer. everytime i see one on the road, it just brings a smile onto my face. i just think 'yes' thats the way to go. the Merc AMG also brings a big smile onto my face but for sheer dynamics it can't touch the beemer with a barge pole. I know l'd have the Merc over the BMW(because i'm a Merc man) but l'm always gonna see an M5 at the lights and think, damn did i buy the wrong car. hahahaha. the only slight reservation i have is that its too pumped IMO. I like the old M5 alot because apart from the quad exhaust at the back you couldn't tell apart from a 520sport. and that to me was the appealing factor. felt like a stealth weapon. one moment you're there and then whooosh you're off. I'm seriously considering getting one of the older models say 2004 reg with abt 60k on the clock.
