  • Bristol Fighter V10 S

    Feb 05, 2010 4:13 PM

There has never been a company quite so enigmatic as Bristol Cars. For decades, it loped along at its own variable pace, producing a handful of cars every year for well-heeled, privacy-obsessed individuals and hardly ever seeking – or seeming to need – the publicity others regard as essential. When times were tough the staff, many of whom had worked for Bristol’s venerable custodian and backbone Tony Crook for decades, turned their hand to restorations. Cars of all ages were worked on in Filt...Read the full article

Has anyone seen one of these in the flesh?. It's one car i'd really like to experience, see what it feels like to drive.

Good call- me too - it's interesting in a way an Aston Rapid just,... well... isn't.

Don't like it, it looks like a kit car. Give me a Beaufighter any day.

If you haven't driven a particular car don't say you have just to prove a point. It doesn't fool anybody and is bloody annoying.

Not driven the Fighter (and possibly never will), but had a good look at one in their showroom last year. In the metal, it looks amazingly compact and benign, almost innocuous, none of the usual Germanic paranoid-aggressive styling.

If I ever win the lottetry, the one I want is the Fighter T.
Quicker than a Veyron, by all accounts.

Not in the metal it doesn't. And you can buy my Beaufighter, although the engine is kaput...

Yes, I have seen an orange one (of all colours!) on the M4 last year. My God, what a beautiful car! I was in a Merc SL500 (no slouch) but I could not keep up. Fighter T is on my lottery list too.

Not a fan of the styling, but cars like the Fighter have their own idiosyncratic appeal. Long may cars like this and companies like Bristol exist. They make this world a more interesting place.

Hi Dan, I am the 412 registrar from the Bristol Owners Club. Is your car one that we have on our list  - there are still some missing. You can contact me on wpr400sataoldotcom or through the BOC website. I'd love to hear about your car. Pip

p.s. if anyone else has a 412 or Beaufighter locally I am always delighted to get pictures for the records. : ))

All accounts? You mean both, presumably: Silverton's, and Anthony Crook's.

No, but there was an article in this mag, can't remember the year, but the car was out of date then, the interior looked like a WW2 aircraft cockpit, and the company was trading on it's glory days when it produced fighter aircraft, plus, the MD was still living in that era.

I have, the build quality looked appalling.  Considering what you could get instead for £250,000 it's no wonder they only made 10.
