A works-backed Jaguar XKR will contest this year's Le Mans 24 Hour race.

The GT2 car will be run by Paul Gentilozzi's Jaguar RSR squad, which will also use it in the American Le Mans Series this season. Ex-F1 driver Marc Goossens and sportscar ace Scott Pruett will be among the driving line-up.

Great to see the Jaguar name back at Le Mans, but would like to see more information about the 'works-backed' bit.  How much support is Jaguar itself actually giving to this project, and how much of it is because Gentilozzi is a Jag fan himself?

Jaguar contubuted to the design of this xkgt, Gentilozzi usaly does'nt use car manufacture because they believe that the cars should still have a sense of comfort and not racing pedigree.

Anyone know what happened to Apex Motorsport who were originally developing the GT2 Jaguar XKR.  They ran in a few events in 2008 &09 and then dissapeared.

Very little support i suspect, but hopefully it may be the first step to a full blown works Jaguar team returning to Le Mans since 1993.

It should sound wonderful! I would love to see a road version with a manual box option.
