  • Spied: Aston Martin Rapide

We’ve been waiting for what seems like an age to see the first road-going prototypes of Aston Martin’s next big thing, the Rapide four-door GT. Now, spy photographs of the car have surfaced on an American blogging ‘site, showing that road-based development work on the car is finally in full swing.
These photos show a British-registered Rapide stopped for refuelling at a motorway service station ...Read the full article

Does anyone else think it would be a kick in the teeth at Ferrari if Pininfarina built this car for Aston? I know Ferrari don't make a four door but they do do a four seat V12, so to my mind it would be direct competition to them.

These images were taken with a mobile phone by one Martin Relsted on the Danish island of Funen and were originally shown on the website of Danish car magazine Bil Magasinet on January 14. Relsted reports that the car was left-hand drive and equipped with a rollcage.

    Not this?

I've seen these on the A38 near The Belfry in Warks. They've been plowing up and own there. Thought it looked contrived actually.

Not for much longer. The final 612 Scagliettis will be rolling down the line shortly.

How do you know when there's a fighter pilot in the room?

    He'll tell you.

The car looks great, pity they are not marketing it as a Lagonda.

I agree - the Lagonda 'brand' is worth reviving (even though the 1960s Lagonda Rapide was a flop, not helped by its Edsel-like nose). This one makes the Panamera look contrived...

I suppose segmenting the market further, the space between an Exec saloon and a GT/Coupe, was going to happen and has happen with in the past with Ferraris Mondial and the current Maserati.

And Porsche have the Panamerica coming but all I can say is the Aston looks stunning whereas the Panamerica looks like a big bar of soap. Spot on AM.
