  • Baby Porsche Boxster confirmed

    Jan 27, 2010 11:32 AM

VW Group chairman Dr Martin Winterkorn has given the first official confirmation that a new entry-level Porsche sports car is being evaluated.

Talking to Autocar in Wolfsburg as the new VW Polo received its the 2010 Car of the Year Award, Winterkorn said: "The Porsche model range is firmly based on the 911, Boxster, Cayenne and Cayman, and it will stay that way. We are also investigating opportunities for a smaller sports car and a smaller SUV - but I cannot say more at the moment.

Looks like the Chairman likes the Panamera about as much as I do.

That isn't "confirmed". Yes, it's widely expected, but that's not confirmed.

Would someone please buy autocar a dictionary in the january sales?

"However, there’s little chance that the 356 and Boxster will clash because, according to one rumoured product plan, the next-generation Boxster and Cayman could be moved sharply upmarket."

Upmarket as in up a class. As in the class the 911 occupies. Right, ok.......

And the new 356 will be the R4's twin, the car Audi will be pitching against the Cayman/Boxster - the cars which Porsche will now be be moving "sharply" upmarket. Oh yes, and isn't the TT Audi's current Cayman/Boxster rival? Confused.com!

    Baby Porsche Boxster confirmed

Yet another Autocar airy-fairy, pie-in-the-sky load of rubbish.  What on earth are you guys playing at????

I agree with the comment above that nothing in the article warrants "confirmed".  It's Autocar sensationalising something from not much at all.  How do Autocar know that the car will start from £33,000??? - it's still being evaluated!  Pork pies I think, made up as they go along.  I rather think Autocar staff need to seperate fact from fiction and speculation - and use that knowledge accordingly.

Autocar - no more poor journalism please.  The facts and truth from now on - thank you.
