  • New Porsche 911 spied

    Jan 27, 2010 11:01 AM

These are the latest spy pictures or Porsche’s next generation 911 in winter testing.

The 998 model will replace the 997, which itself is just a through facelift of the previous 996 model. Construction will be a mix of steel and aluminium and some components will be shared with the smaller Cayman and Boxster to keep costs down.

"The new 911 will be slightly longer and wider than the model it replaces."

Can anyone tell the difference between this and the last two 911 variants? I know I can't!

You can't see the difference between a 996 and it's fried egg headlights and the 997 that replaced it?

No offence intended John McToon, but it doesn't take a full redesign to change the headlamps.

Does Porsche employ a stylist? If so, he's even lazier than me!

Porsche has no need to make the front any longer than it already is for crash protection as it is much easier to design a front crumple zone without a giant engine hitting something- so that theory is simply not true.

And they make the car wider yet again for what, let me guess so it can have better grip? Are they kidding, the 911 needs more grip? This thing is like a can am car for Cri^ts sakes.

Its now the size of a damn skyline. this is no longer a car to have fun pushing along country lanes; indeed its pure autobahn all the way. Let see, the tires should be what 355 20's now, pleezzzeee.

Any reason Porsche simply cannot make a 911 classic-size for those who wish to enjoy the ride.?
