Mazda’s new 5 MPV has been revealed ahead of its official launch at March’s Geneva motor show.

The Japanese firm has gone for style as well as function, with features including sliding rear doors to boost rear passenger access and a flexible seven-seat interior.

There's something decidedly Korean about the contrived and rather trite 'swoosh' lines on the side profile.

    Ssangyong would be proud.

The Japs are to styling what Kraft is to wholesome cheese.

Looks er..... very slippery aerodynamically. Is it me or was it only about 5 minutes since the last model came out. The swoopy sidelines are definitely  er ...unusual. I would have to see it in the metal to see if it is convincing or not.

Glad to see they have kept the sliding doors for practicality . I wonder why so few MPVs have this feature.

Don't like the new front, dosent really suit an MPV. Reminds me of this:

I'm pretty sure this is just a facelift, not an all-new model. The windows are exactly the same shape and the air-con is still single-zone climate control. I loved the very first Mazda5 and this one is just weird...

MPVs always look dire anyway ( except perhaps the C4 Picasso) so this isn't too bad. Still find it confusing that it is badged as a "5" in Europe , rather than being called Premacy as in Japan.

    Are you sure?

Looks like a Chinese interpretation of the MPV theme. Grim doesn't begin to describe this so-called styling...

I really like it, although the back is just a tad Rodius - mainly the tail lights. Otherwise I think it's a good-looking machine, just different enough from the current model, which I still think looks great.
I've got an Aygo and a Meerkovonian meerkat :)

Those are some seriously quirky swage lines!  I'm not sure if I like them... I don't think I do. :-|

Exactly! This looks like one of those appalling Chinese rip-offs where they start with one car at the front and turn it into different car at the back.

Guess what- I'm not a robot. Anyone who says I am is a liar.
