  • Land Rover Range Rover 4.4 Vogue

The new Range Rover and the new Mini have more in common than their wildly differing sizes might suggest. They are both British motoring icons which have endured for decades and inspired hordes of imitators. And they have both been totally rethought by BMW.When Ford acquired Land Rover from BMW in July 2000 work on the new Range Rover was largely complete. It is a sign of Ford’s total confidence in the car that it made only minor changes. Read the full article

Capable car undoubtedly, but it's just got such a terrible image now...  those with any  taste drive an old Defender...

They have a decent image here in Norn Iron, but i guess alot of things are geocentric and here they are often used for purpose intended to pull trailers and horse boxes and a fair share of rural driving. Have to admit a supercharged Range Rover really appeals

The Defender is definatley a design icon, right there with the Vespa Scooter as a near perfect solution to a particular type of transportation requirement.

From what I understand, the older ones are particularly relaible as well.

The Ranger Rover, X6 etc. are solutions waiting for a suitable transportation requirement (although they are suitable as weapons for bullying others off the road).

Certain things, like the Range Rover and the Defender, are never subject to fashion or what some of the hoi polloi might call "image". Fashion comes and goes but it is always good taste to ride in a Range Rover. Just like wearing a Burberry mac.

I'll take the capable car and not worry about the image thanks. I got to drive a new Defender on and off road recently and while it was very capable off road it was awful, truely bloody awful on road. Never again.

If you haven't driven a particular car don't say you have just to prove a point. It doesn't fool anybody and is bloody annoying.

Oddly enough I loved driving the Defender but then again I can see why those who dislike it do.

Just a hairy man in a waxed world.
