  • Aston Martin Cygent: new pics

Aston Martin has shown off its Toyota iQ-based Cygnet in more detail than ever before.

These Aston Martin Cygnet official studio pictures show how Aston has combined its own styling cues – such as its rear lights and door handles – into the iQ’s existing design.

    ahahahahahah!

    pointless...

    the most expensive Toyotas:

    - Toyota LF-A

    - Toyota Cygnet

    - Toyota IQ

... none of them, true necessary.

(it`s better that N. Pagnell will fit in-house gas pedals... or at least, floor mats)

That is how the interior of the iQ should look! Soo much better
Has the most boring car ever created, but I'm enjoying bangernomics in a Toyota Corolla 1.6 GS in green!

Utterly ru$$ish looks. Interiors though look nice..

A 500 ferrari tributo is much better looking than this.. Only if I am allowed to compare these two..

What a waste of Aston Martin Name...

I keep waiting for the punchline on this, but it doesn't seem to be coming anytime soon.

At one point it almost made sense as I once read that they will only be offered when purchasing a new Aston (think of it as an alternative to the bouquet of flowers you get from 'regular' dealers), but now it appears to be going on general sale.

On another note, I fear there will be numerous look-a-like body kits for standard IQs on eBay before the Cygnet goes on sale, thus cheapening the brand further still.

How about calling it a Lagonda Cygnet - or even a Tickford Cygnet ?

Does that make it any more acceptable ?

p.s. I'm sure we will see James Bond nipping around Rome or Paris in a Cygnet in the next 007 movie - that will boost sales ...

now I should be called 44 cars so far ... and 21 motorbikes !

Absolutely pathetic. Brings back the worst days of BL, when they would add a horrible-looking grille to a mini, add a few bells and whistles and rebadge it Riley or Wolseley.

The AM brand, now one of the world's most admired and revered, will be irreparably damaged if they launch it. Imagine if someone where to say -in the near future- that they own an AM: His/her audience would most likely think "Oh dear, another wannabe with one of those rebadged Toyotas'.

If AM wants to bring emissions down they should incorporate direct fuel injection, start-stop and regenarative braking, but they probably don't have the means now that they're no longer in the Ford group.

I hope it's not the beginning of the end for AM as a similar move did for those revered old brands, but it sure looks like it.

I like it.... looks so much better than the IQ and has the badge Kudo's. Die hards will hate what it is doing for the brand, but it could well be a runnaway success if it goes on general sale. A bit priccy but I think it looks nice and is a good way of Aston bringing its average Co2 down. As well as opening the joy of owning an Aston maybe not a proper one but could lead to Aston developing there own proper Baby Aston in the future.

Good luck I say look forward to seeing one in the flesh.

     Jaguar X Type...

    Rover City Rover...

    Saab 9-3...

Look how they all turned out.  Are there really 2000 Aston buyers a year stupid enough to buy a spruced-up IQ?  I hope not as I really think this is the worst kind of badge-engineering and Aston Martin deserves better.

The idea of offering a smaller more suitable means of transport in the city for the Aston owner is a clever one and should be applauded. No one else has thought of that so credit to AM for doing so. There are few cars suited better to the city than an iQ so this seems like a neat solutiion for those with the money to afford it, and I guess that most AM owners would not think the price excessive to be seen to be greener. Congrats to AM for having the idea and to Toyota for going along with it.

ordinary bloke - which side of the fence do you sit on?  On one side you applaud AM's green credentials while your tag states 'global warming and climate change - the biggest con yet'.

You're probably right though, if they can shift 2000 of these ugly ducklings they're probably getting some goody points in their Co2 quota and maybe the sad truth is that for AM to survive in the modern world they're going to have to diversify and pimp out their badge in this way.
