Nissan’s 2012 Olympic fleet would have averaged 60g/km of CO2, half of what was required by the games’ organisers.

- as i have stated before the LOCOGs decision was stupid

-for Nissan and Renault to have offered a fleet averaging half the emissions that of the BMW fleet could provide and all the infrastructure as well was fantastic and Nissan/Renault should have got the contract

- as I have said before, Nissan and Renault not getting the contract was a big knock for the UK in terms of world leader standing, jobs and revenues.

-Lord Coe you messed up and i repeat, Lord Coe must go, Lord Coe must go! Lord Coe cannot even pick the greenest and most environmentally friendly and highest legacy proposal, instead he went for the BMWs that pollute over the average DOUBLE the Nissan and Renault fleet

-and BMW are supposed to be focused on the environment - this clearly shows they are rubbish (quite clearly) when in comparison to Nissan and Renault.

I do like the fact that you post in another thread with the same information that you already have, but then you dont reply when verious people offer arguements against your veiw. Better to ignor them and keep shouting, than have a constructive discussion, hey Capslock?

The Olympics is not meant to be rational, after all it,is n't the main point of it is stroking the egos of some professional sports persons? That Lord Coe looks like a right slimey door to door knocker if ever there was one.

OMG, CapsLock commented on this thread - *SO* surprised. You have clearly got it into your head the BMW is de facto the big bad German wolf, and that Renault/Nissan are the lovely prancing dancing fairy cakes of the automotive world. Get a grip, please. BMW will lay on a spectacular fleet for the games, and they'll do so with aplomb, and minimal disruption. I don't want Renault having any involvement in the 'infrastructure' of the UK thank you very much - they'll end up having plugs that aren't compatible with UK voltage, or all the cars will spontaneously lock/unlock at will, or they'll handle like a jelly in the shower. I suppose they will, of course, perform amazingly in crash tests though.

- you are missing the point, its not about BMW or Nissan and Renault; i do not like BMW, but that does not stop me saying the 5 series (the current one) is a well designed car, it does not stop me saying that the launch of the Mini was handled in an excellent manner etc (even if they messed it up later) - so I am very rational indeed.

-it also does not stop me saying that when compared to Ford (which people slang off) and the way Ford disposed of Aston Martin, the way they disposed of Jag the way they are disposing of Volvo all of which excellently done and shows Fords care and consideration, but the way the BMW disposed of Rover was shocking - totally by comparison.

-it does not matter that it is BM that got the contract, it does not matter the Nissan (that has cars more efficient than the supposed to be good BM) did not get the contract; WHAT DOES MATTER is that this is about the opportunity that Nissan and Renault were giving the UK and that it was missed - even if it was Toyota instead of Nissan with the electric solution, even though I do not like Toyota i would still have banged the drum because this is about the opportunity and now what we have missed.

-all those jobs the UK will not get, the world lead the UK will now have to fight even harder for (when we could have had it on a plate); all that revenue the UK will not get etc; all those things that were missed, that Nissan and Renault were giving us.

-we were told it was about legacy, we were told it was about sustainability and that it was about the UK as a whole and doing waht was right for the UK.

-so for some people to turn their back (the Olympic committee) on an opportunity that comes but once in a life time (if you are lucky) for second best solution i.e. BM- WHAT A JOKE - hope that is not too subtle.

-Lord Coe needs to go! Lord Coe must go! - he is now an absolute joke and the UK has missed out on further £millions of investment, jobs, revenues and a gift of a world lead in an industry that UK engineers working with French and Japanese engineers and businsses could have formulated - but Lord Coe messed that up.

-so rationality - totally - i have that in spades, its a pity Lord Coe does not.

-But it shows that BM (supposed to be Efficent Dynamics) have just been TOTALLY beaten fair and square by Nissan and Renault - which I do find mighty funny! i am a big fan of Nissan (massive fan) but that has not clouded my judgement, this was about opportunity - Nissan gave us that and Lord Coe took it away - As said, he is a joke and must go.

“We have no issue with BMW getting the contract,” said the source, “but we feel the LOCOG have missed out here on a golden opportunity to kick-start a proper electric infrastructure in London......"

You lost, BMW won, end of story. (Cue the Nissan directors to start stamping there feet, jumping up and down whilst screaming "it's not fair!, it's not fair!)

Caps are you sure the decision lay with old Seb? Wasn't it more likely it lay with a committee further down the food chain and that may well have been based on instruction over Lord Coe's head along the lines of "less legacy less cost. There is a public debt crisis after all." Right or wrong, you have your point, but does it need to be focused on one individual and an individual who probably was a major contributer to the award of the Olympics to the City of London? Also thing some of the other posters have a point that you have flogged this particular point to death over a number of threads.

4rephill - again you do not understand, it not about who won, its about what was lost, the only people stamping the feet will be the UK people who as a result of Lord Coe's decision do not have a job - they will be stamping their feet whilst waiting at the job centre.

-so i hope you are proud of yourself for your lacking of understanding, for your compession to your fellow countrymen/women and for the UK to lead the world in an industry

-so as said, its not about who won, its about what we lost - maybe you get that, maybe you do not but that is what it is about.

-also it is starting to turn out to be and i think will be a PR loser for BM; pity really as they have spent all that money on PR saying how green they are but they cannot even lead in green tech after all their hype - ironically quite funny.

-as for Lord Coe, he is at the top of the tree for it, the book stops at him, it makes no difference who down the line made what decision as he is at the head of the line and thus ultimately responsible; hence why i say "Lord Coe must GO!!"

-the decision has been made now, totally i agree, no going back; but it was the wrong deicsion made for the wrong reasons; i think now BM will suffer from negative publicity, they have not got the greenest cars (by miles) and did not give the UK the best legacy.

-they did not give people the chance to get lots of new jobs, they did not give the chance for young people to train in technical subjects, they did not give UK engineering firms and manufacturers the chance to get even more orders and business, they did not give the UK the chance to led the world, they did not give a legacy (accept nearly twice as much pollution) to London, they did basically nothing for the UK or London at all.

-so the next time people are thinking of buying a new car, that warm feeling you get from a Jag or a Nissan or a Honda or a Toyota (things that are made here) and of course that even warmer feeling you get from Nissan who treid to give the UK so much

- well you would not get that from a BM, all you get from a BM is the knowledge that they did not give the UK and all its people a wonderful opportunity and the UK more jobs and the world led - they (BM) did not give the UK any of that

- enjoy your BMWs
