    autocar.tv: 911 GT2 vs Corvette Z06

Can Corvette's Z06 take on Porsche's finest?... Watch Video

Guess you'll have to have another go with the ZR1 in the future! Do you reckon someone's telling porkies - either the GT2 is more powerful than Porsche let on or the Z06 is missing a few ponies?

Just another thing - as fun as it is to ridicule the Corvette's leaf spring rear suspension, it's actually got double wishbones with the leaf spring mounted transversely. This is very different to the Mustang's live rear axle, for example, and is not the same as the leaf spring arrangments found on pickup trucks!

Considering you can buy 2 Corvettes and still have money to spare for the price of the GT2, I'll buy a Corvette with my hard earned money.  I can do a LOT with the £69,000 left in the bank.

The Corvette will match the GT2 if driven properly. It's the best Super Car value on the planet.

It’s almost like the car was being tested by a Porsche homer…Oh yeah it was! Will the ZR1 get its chance against the wundercar…doubtful?

If Chris is a car guy why can’t he take the time to do a little research, the Corvette has a composite transverse leaf which is lighter than 2 coils. This is the kind of knuckleheaded comments I would expect from some, like say Clarkson over at Top Gear, because he never knows what he is talking about. That being said it is a little disappointing hearing it from Chris, it comes off sounding like someone with a bit of a Napoleonic complex. At least Tiff Needell isn’t a hater of all things American, and gave one of the few fair reviews of the Z06 I have seen from across the pond. When Chris grows up he should aspire to be more like Needell and less like Clarkson.

Oh and another thing, when shifting from 2nd to 3rd just put the palm of your hand on the back of the shift knob and push it straight forward in one motion it will go right into 3rd. No need to guide it in with pinky extended, you’re not drinking tea your shifting a Corvette.

I seem to remember from past attempts that the only way to ever match any Corvette's 0-60 claim is to shift without using the clutch. They use a truck clutch/ gearbox so it will take it a few times!

Hmm, I wonder how much Autocar and Chris were paid by Porsche for this test? Not even the guys over at 6speedonlie believe in this test:

Autocar has damaged their credibility with this test.

What an absolute load of tosh. Chris Harris was giving the Corvette everything it could take and Matt Prior in the Porsche even let him jump the start on the final run.

We couldn't have given the Z06 a fairer crack of the whip - and it got obliterated by the GT2.

Watch the video - there's no trickery here. And why would we have any interest in pretending otherwise - surely the half-price Corvette beating the Porsche would be a "better" story?

By the way, next time instead of shouting "1, 2, 3" why not hit the horn 3 times?

I would suggest he learn how to drive the Z06!!

The Z06 will hit 60MPH in first gear and 100MPH in second. He was really short shifting and his launch was slower than if my grandmother drove it!!
