I'm thinking of getting a new car. I was looking at an audi a4 technik 136. I have a 3500 pound deposit and the best price I have been quoted is 279 per month on a ppi over 4 years. Any advice is most welcome. Is this the best car for me? Is it the best price? I don't know much about cars so any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Cant comment on your choice of car as dont have enough info about how you intend to use it . Annual mileage family duties how long to keep it etc .

For the best deal I would advise buying a copy of What Car and seeing what their guide price is for the maximium you should be paying . £25k !!! See back pages . It would be a good idea to look at brokers if buying new as you can make massive savings with them sourcing you a car from a UK dealer . Beware of possible long deliveries though . Even better go to a car supermarket and get a nearly new one for about £10k off and you will be able to have it straight away you have to wait months for some new Audi models . Some nearly new cars have about 20 miles on the clock .

Obviously with car supermarkets you can do a virtual search first .

Use a main dealer for a testdrive and make sure the driving position suits you A4s are renowned for awkwardlky offset pedals especially in manuals .

If you do a low mileage less then 10k a year say you will be better off buying petrol and a nearly new one will have much bigger discounts than a diesel one .

Hope that helps .

Pretty hard to judge that based on no information on you and your needs!  To get advice on the most suitable car, you need to provide a lot more information about your driving needs.  As for the best price, it depends on how much cash you want to put in up-front and how much you are prepared to spend per month.

There is plenty of information out there to help you decide which car would be most suitable for you, the biggest difficulty is sifting through it all to find data that is relevant.  It depends on how much time you want to put into the process - or alternatively you can use a professional service to help you with it.  Most of my customers tend to be people who don't have the time or inclination to do the research and run around car shopping.

Thanks for your help so far. I do around 10k miles per year. I am putting a deposit of £3500 down. Do you need any more info?

Yes - what do you intend to use it for - private use or business trips? How many passengers do you need to regularly carry? Are insurance costs a concern for you? If so, how old are you?  Are running costs a concern for you? Are you looking for good fuel economy, or is performance more important? Where will you be driving - city, long motorway trips, or in the country? Do you need to schlepp a lot of gear with you or tow anything?

etc, etc.

I think its a good car, about the price. have you by any chance to go to other dealers and compare the prices? If you haven't I suggest doing that and pick the cheapest one.
