does anyone know if the bmw 118 d was given a facelift between 2008 and 2010????

Hi and welcome.
The 1 series was given a facelift in 2007, subtle styling tweeks.
The engines and efficient dynamics were uprated and thus improved performance and economy.
It was then subject to further styling tweeks just before being replaced as is the norm.
If you are looking for one you want the later model as the tweeks were very good.

Among the other changes in 2007 the 118d got a power hike from 122 bhp to 143 bhp, even though emissions and economy improved.
Mostly this was achieved because it got the stop/start system - although the newer model is a much better proposition, try to make sure it has a good battery; the new one for my 123d cost over £250 (you need to use a main agent or specialist as the software needs updating after it is fitted).
