We have just replaced one of our cars with a decent used car, the (franchised) dealer offered a deal of the next 2 services for £299. Now the car has a 20K service interval which is pretty much 2 years apart on the use it will get. Can even spread the fee interest free. My cynical brain thinks where is the catch? Servicing to cover next 4 years with a proper franchise stamp in the service book for £300! seems a no brainer.. what am I missing? or perhaps nothing?

It may just be a good deal if you know the dealership go for it .

Maybe to keep you visiting to try to get you to swap again? On the face of it, it it a great deal.Does it include the oil?

When I bought my Z4M, pre-reg, I was tempted with the scintillating offer of free MOTs for life on that car, so long as I bought that weekend, which I didn't, as it happened.  I did buy it the following weekend, and I cheekily asked if the free MOT thing was still available, it wasn't, but they managed to include me in the scheme.  You'd think that there would be a "must service here too" catch clause, but no.

On its third anniversary it duly had its free MOT and thus far all MOTs have been free.  If I book early enough they even collect and drop off, and it gets a clean inside and out too.

If I knew what I was getting into, I wouldn't have done it...and I would have been wrong.
