Hi guys,Looking for some help. I have an x-reg A6 and recently all the electronics have failed. No central locking. Boot/doors locked. Only drivers door opens with key. Headlights work, but internal lights not.A friend said it may be the ECU. Others say it's not. Any advice?Fadge

Hi, Jimmy. I'm no expert on electronics and all that, but unless you can fix the problem yourself, I imagine things could be complicated and expensive if it involves the ECU. Depending on the value of the car itself, it might not be worth it.

Assuming you've checked the fuses, the next thing to do is to check the control unit. It's under the carpet in the passenger footwell and it can get wet.

(I found this answer by Googling - I don't have any experience with Audis!)

X-reg? ECU? A fire in a layby might be your best option, I'm afraid. Then buy something Japanese with the pay out.

Harsh, why not just ensure all valuables are removed when it is parked and buy a torch to illuminate inside?

Now I am sober (!) I guess check the fuse box(es) for any calamity like water ingress or any arcing; check any big multi-plugs under the bonnets for water, dirt, connection etc; check the ECU is dry (as gregor60 suggested); check the health of the battery; check the health of the alternator. After that you might be looking for a stray earth somewhere buried in the harness (I had this and it took months to track down). It might be worth buying or borrow and OBD reader. If it is the ECU - and you can track down a specialist - you could proabaly get one relatively cheap, much cheaper than through Audi! Hope this helps.
