Have to assume that whoever is looking at the car knows what they're doing, but generally the best way to go about eliminating some simple things would be:

Try jump starting the car (it shouldnt by the sounds of it, if it did then battery or alternator fault)

Bump start the car to check the starter's ok (which it sounds like it will be anyway since it's turning)

If it wont bump start then start looking at the Ht leads for serious splits / sparking and check that the plugs are all getting a spark

Check the plugs themselves

Check that the fuel pump is pumping (you can usually hear them whining away

Check there is fuel in the tank and there are no leaks.

After that i'm done, I'm no mechanic tho

My car wouldnt start recently, it wasnt the battery or alternator, it was just turning over & turning over & wouldnt start, tried it until the battery died. The AA came round & said it was probably the glow plugs (its a diesel), cos it wudnt even jump start off the AA van.

Anyway got a mobile mechanic out & it turned out to be the fuel pump, no fuel was getting to the engine. Could be that?

Normally if you are having a hard start causes could be of the selenoid, valve covers or glow plugs. If it takes longer time than usual diagnosed how to find diesel glow plugs problems. If it is working properly you should see the tip starting to glow, which is why you wouldn't want to touch the plug while testing. But if the testing shows no glow into the bin then replacement is needed.

Do not trade the ultimate for the immediate.

Can't be the glow plugs - the OP said it was a 1.0 which wasn't a diesel engine in the Corsa.
