Peugeot 3008 v Qashqai

<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Just watched today’s twin test on the ABTO
24hrs Russian program. Very fair comparison.

3008

What I didn’t like – (or the tester)..

Why so much bare metal visible round the
door frames from the inside? Looked very down market and smacked of cutting
corners to save a few pennies.

On entering the drivers seat – DUCK or
grouse! He banged his head because the apperature is low down and once inside
not a lot of head room

Whilst the sun blinds on the rear doors are
a nice touch – they rattle when up or down!

The Chip grill – no words – just horrible

That it is more expensive than the Qashqai
by 7% here in Russia

What I did like

The boot was very cleverly designed and
larger by 50% than the Qashqai

There was a decent torch fitted in the boot

Drop down rear bumper section for easy
loading

An amazingly (one straight arm) deep
storage space between front seats

Rear door blinds ( if they didn’t bloody
rattle)

Very nice seats front and rear

Tester also complained of high road roar
and choppy ride

After 12 months with the 3008 after a Qashqai - avoid! 3008 is nice to drive but plagued with problems and rattles. Auto gearbox has never worked properly plus a series of (mainly) electrical faults. Steering now pulls to the side under braking, but garage just says "they all do that, mine is even worse". Pity, because it is a nice car if only Peugeot could get their build quality right. Ran Qashqai for 3 years with virtually no problems.

Welcome back, PHIR!

The 3008 generally receives fairly positive reviews and looks much better in the flesh, but I'd have to say to go with the Qashqai. I've only driven one - a 2.0 diesel with the auto 'box and 4WD. A bit over the top, perhaps. Smaller engined ones would probably be better. All in all, it's a nice car (manufactured in the UK). It won't set your world on fire, but it's a well-rounded car. They've sold over a million already for a reason.

Coverage of the same story from BBC Sport:

"Emergency medical charity Magpas, which helped to treat Villota at the scene, said she had suffered "facial and head injuries" and was in a stable condition on her arrival at hospital.

I'd probably take the Qashqai over the Peugeot anyday
