What, exactly, is a 'Q-car'?

A Subaru Legacy 3.0R would be an example. Something that goes like stink but few realise that it can.

My only claim to a Q car was an old gen Volvo V40 T4. I kept it looking deliberately grungy like any other old codgers V40, virtually indistinguishable. But with 200bhp not too much weight and sports suspension it was highly amusing.

Remapping is the Q way now, apart from bhp, the amount of midrange torque a diesel can be tuned for is outrageous.

Great example, best thing about it is pootling along and then when you need it.....whoosh!

Re the diesels, almost got out Q'd a few weeks back but so glad mine revs to 7K and spins round the dial so quickly in S# mode!

I have a 1 Series 123dSE 5 door so it does not stand out, but it goes pretty well so a bit of a Q car.

Met an ML500 at some traffic lights a couple of months ago and made it look pretty lethargic; sporting (or short-sighted) of him to try again at the next set of lights, but same result.

Moral of this post maybe is that even if you have a 5 litre petrol V8, if it weighs nearly as much as a house it will never be quick  - probably will not handle too great either!

Rather like the new Bentley or Lambo SUV, then?

I do rather fancy the Bentley Falcon, though; but not quite the Lambo. ;)

SG1? is that you Jack O'Neill? I thought everything you guys did was 'Q' all those alien ships under Cheyenne Mountain...

My car could be considered a bit of a Q-car. It's a diesel, so those cocky 3-Series drivers don't expect to be left behind by miles.

Would love a 1st gen M5 in dark blue. Debadged for extra stealth! One of the original and best Q cars.
