1100 miles in on new i30 diesel blue drive manual 75.3mpg on a long run without any hyper miling cannot complain getting low 60s in normal driving all better than my old e32 750i i30 about 1500 revs in top at 60mph my 2002ti did 4500rpm at same speed........

I like the looks very euro modern it replaced an 09 Golf dsg 1.4tsi and is vey much more economical and seems as well made and of similar quality

There is a toy on hand also a 1996 MGF which over the last year has been totally reliable, the person who had it before me spent a fortune on it in recommissioning and I have benefited from that MGF provides excellent entertainment

Great idea to have a sensible everyday car and something fun for the weekend. I'll be interested to see how Hyundai progress with their dual clutch autos.

Glad to hear you're enjoying the Hyundai, although I'm more interested in the MGF!

Hyundai is a good thing and much less grey porridge than grey porridge of old but enjoyment is a different thing entirely MGF is an MGB for those who want to arrive at their intended destination it has spoiled some stuff for me given how strong and lively the engine feels compared to more traditional sports cars

I really like the MGF. I think it's handsome as well as good to drive, and because so many were sold, you can pick a good early one up for under a grand now! I've considered buying one for myself as a weekend car. A while back, I bought a cheap MR2 for that, but sold it on after a while as I never really got round to using it. The only thing that puts me off the MGF is the questionable reliability of the K-Series engine, but I might bite the bullet some day. My next door neighbour has one that I sold to him. He's a very lively retired bloke who reminds me of that old Scottish jockey turned pundit who was on I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here. He's had his for about four years now and hasn't suffered head gasket issues. Maybe I'm just paranoid...

Fidji, if you go for an MGF get a VVC, they are much less likely to suffer, and the engine is great

Isn't the VVC the one with 160bhp? If so, I drove a ZR with that engine and it was brilliant - one of the best hot hatches I've ever driven.

The 160bhp MG TF does nearly 40mpg and does 0-60 in 6.9 seconds. Tempting...

I think the VVC had 145 bhp in most MGFs and became 160 BHP right at the end, and is 160 BHP in all MGTFs. And yes, its a great revvy engine, perfect for a car like the 'F'

That explains why the Rover 25 GTI VVC had 145bhp!

I agree that the K-Series engine suits the MGF/TF very well.
