I'd really like to drive the 101 down the West coast of America but apparently it's very weather dependent. Plus, when you stop in the evening, you're faced with Burgers and American beer, not old world wine and delicate French cuisine.

Oooo, 'ark at me!

It's highway 1 you're thinking of, and it isn't great but for other reasons.  You will eat and drink very well, but it's very twisty to the point of being frustratingly slow, and it's busy unless you go off-seaon.  Almost impossible to get past little old lady in a Camry.  Lovely views though.  Also the water is cold, because of the Humboldt current coming straight down from Alaska.

Totally agree, the highway 1 has been quite a disappointment last year. Great views but the traffic just doesn't permit to enjoy the bends. I soon went inland  where I actually found almost deserted roads, even if it was August. About the cold water I thought it was just me and my habit to Mediterrean sea because there were often a lot of people swimming and surfing without the suit but it was damn cold if you ask me!

The Z3 was a very iconic sports car. I have often looked at purchasing one (but due to work constraints had to go the route of a 4*4 type car). When the BMW Z4 came out I was impressed and have to say if money was not an issue I'd have one for sure.

Really like the Z4. I wanted a Z4M when I got rid of the MPS however with a baby on the way it isnt the most practical for my means.

Enjoy it, very jealous.
