There's just been a huge crash. Toyota flying. Literally. Everyone OK though.

Yup, involved a Toyota colliding with a Ferrari 458 at about 200mph resulting in the former flipping up in the air and smashing in to the barrier while the Ferrari rolled over after hitting the same barrier. Testament to the design and strength of sports-prototype whose technology and engineering are often overlooked and seen as inferior to F1 cars. Hope the drivers make a full recovery.

Wasn't too impressed with him maintaining he didn't think Davidson would overtake him there. Annoyed Liz Halliday & Johny Mowlam too

Yes, huge crash and glad Davidson is OK.

On a positive note, at least he's not now in a position to use his blocking techniques on the Audi's come the end of the race like last year.

Apparently Davidson has broken his back as a result of the crash
but judging from reports he should make a full recovery.

Looking at the footage, clearly the Ferrari was at fault moving over just as the Toyota was passing. Whether the driver didn't see the Toyota approaching (there is an appreciable speed difference, no doubt), didn't think he'd overtake at that point or simply didn't look I don't know.
You either accept a Morgan as you accept the Himalayas or you go on to more splendid things, say, butterfly collecting. A Morgan merely is and that should be enough.

Did I just here that right on the Eurosport commentary; the Porsche 911 will be replaced in 2014 with a mid-engined car? Is that true for production cars as well, they are really abandoning the engine in the back?
Oh, and thank goodness for Rebellion!

Shame Toyota couldnt have put up a bit more of a fight but well done to Audi on a 1, 2, 3.

The Toyotas were at least as quick as the Audis, if not faster during the race. Not sure if the hybrid power was a factor or not, but Toyota showed that petrol is certainly not dead in the LMP1 class. It just needed a works team to take the plunge and not opt for diesel power.

That's what I heard too. Unless the super rare 918 hypercar will spawn a GT race version, I can only assume that this news confirms speculation that Porsche will indeed wheel out a new mid-engined sportscar to take on cars such as the R8, 458, SLS, Gallardo and MP4-12C.

It's nice to know the Williams flywheel energy storage system really does work, but I can't see too many applications for it outside of motorsport.

Probably true, especially as I suspect this particular system probably costs more than many cars on sale today. Not really an issue with a £2m sports-prototype, but in a family hatch.... I'm sure the basics of the flywheel tech may result in something much more compact, cheaper and relevant in everyday cars in the future.
