In a surprise development in the long-running case, Gribkowsky told a court in Munich that allegations he received $56 million in bribes from Ecclestone in 2006 and 2007 over the sale of F1 to current owners CVC were "essentially true".

Ahhhh - and Bernie comments that the guy would say anything to avoid a long sentence. To my mind they should both be there..but as I never liked the guy it can be said I am unfairly biased.

How do you view Bernie these days?

Is Bernie bent? As a nine-pound note (at a risk of him suing me to death).

I like Bernie a lot, he has done so much for Formula One, more than many realise.  But he is a bit of a Marmite character so I get how it is easy not to like him and how he goes about things.

Is Bernie Bent?

Why ask a rhetorical question?

Nice one squirrel - I think world opinion of him has to be tarnishing the sport and I think somehow he should be removed sooner rather than later.

Today I read his statement

"Ecclestone, 81, told Reuters that Gribkowsky had been putting him under pressure over his tax affairs. He paid some £10 million to the banker to "keep him quiet" and not as alleged to smooth the sale of the Formula One stake to private equity firm CVC Capital Partners"

So Bernie I have some tax problems - not quite as big as this guy - but 1 mill is pocket change for you - how about helping me out.???

Like he's the only one!, what with the Government trying to shame celebs into "doing the right thing" by paying ALL the tax they should pay?, tax avoidance has been a battle for ever since tax was invented (who invented it anyway?),the Governments short of a few quid just now and is probing every orifice to get the last sheckle to cut the deficite the Bankers left us with, and it's starting with the "haves", Bernie, a shrewed businessman?...no question, but he's not the only one, besides, if you've worked hard all your life, it would be a bit annoying if when near retirement age you discover you can't...oooops.. that's happening now!

If he was struggling financially, I'm sure he'd appreciate a whip-round.

So if you had a few million you could get them to bash him instead and nick some jewellery while they were at it; what do you mean it has already been been done?

Need a few million more then; I think I am  starting to understand what Euromillions is all about!
