If you look at the New Zealand Herald website (if someone could post a link, that would be great), you can read about Holden's proposed plans to relaunch a new Torana, based on a new small Chevrolet sports car called the Code 130R, which can take a four, six and a V8, just like the seventies original. It will reflect Holden's rear-drive heritage and will have handling to suit.
Now, I know this probably doesn't mean much to those of you who are not from Down Under, but I can promise you that the prospect of a new version of this superb seventies car is very exciting to we who are.
I wonder if the top model will be called the GTR XU-1 or the SL/R 5000. Legendary cars both.

I think a V8 is unlikely though
It might come in as a halo model, with the bulk being 4-cyl.

It would make sense; I think GM is trying to use the upcoming Alpha platform as much as possible. Alpha RWD will underpin the new Caddy ATS, next larger CTS, and the next gen Camaro so a BRZ/GT86 competitor would seem likely and a good way to get the most out of the platform. I think a V8 is unlikely though, more likely to get the new Cadillac turbo 4 and maybe a V6.

That A9X in the photo still looks good. A giant-killer in its day.

We might well, actually. The new Torana would certainly have a broader appeal here than the Maloo ute, and Vauxhall has brought that in. The 4/V6/V8 approach would ensure a relevant engine choice for us, too.

Could we see it as a Vauxhall?

Many thanks.
