I feel sorry for everyone at home .
Justine Greening the transport Sec has just said she wont try to block the forthcoming 3p a litre rise in petrol prices as the gov need the tax and the oil companies should cut the cost of fuel as crude has gone down .
Ok I agree with half of that . No prizes for guessing which bit . She then went on to say the Gov needs to make savings . Ok fair enough but in her next breath says what a wonderful thing spending £34 000 000 000 on HS2 would be and motorists need to pay for it . Think how many potholes could be filled for that kind of money !
Is she completely dumb or just suffers from verbal diahorrea ?
I really dont get any govs transport policy at the moment . Well I do FLEECE THE MOTORIST .
Shouldnt motoring publications be lobbying for better roads and sensible transport policies .

We should, but as no policical party wants to represent the motorist, and all see us as a cashcow i suspect its a hopeless situation.

I think we should do what the government wants, leave our cars at home for a week and all get on pulic transport .and watch it entire pulic transport network collapse. and see how that effects the economy.

The answer is easier if you've got the determination and the bottle for it - simply slow down.
Driving along the motorway at 40-50mph will use half the fuel (tax revenue) that you will at 70mph.
However, very few people do this, as the cost isn't hurting us enough yet. The government, of course knows this, and continues to increase tax accordingly.
(the hidden joy of driving very slow is, of course, that you're always first in the queue and the road in front of you is invariably empty)

The BBC news item you draw our attention, Lesia, includes the hysterically funny line: "We are on the side of working families." Ah, there's nothing like an Etonian sense of social justice.
All together now:
"That's right. There's nothing bloody like it at all!"

It's only delayed until January by which time most people's disposable incomes would have fallen further.
