...the moderator delegated limited powers to the initiator only of a given thread? Eg:

1. the power to warn a poster that the tone or content of his or her posts is not welcome, which you can do anyway, but the tiger would not be toothless because

2. you have the power to lock out a particular poster for stated cause and

3. you have the power to lock down the thread for stated cause.

I think a trial period would be fun. Some might fear abusers getting drunk on power but I think any abuser will only make themselves look worse, so it would be counterproductive. The vast majority of us want at least to look responsible.

I don't know how sophisticated the software is but perhaps the recipient of a warning as in point 1 above would have a symbol on any subsequent posts in that thread, eg a tomato-splat, or a flat tyre, or a...hmm, I think I had better post this now before I get carried away.

I corrected your post.

You're not the first!

Poor Colonel must consider the prospect of deportation to the USA to face court action for placing together in one sentence those red-alert non-PC words. We are obliged to do so with British citizens under the unique agreement and relationship between the UK and the USA.

Not long time ago, you posted a conversation of two people over dinner sitting next to your table, you overhearing them.

So it is true, you do have a sense of humour. A thumbs up for that one!

Porn Star Name Game (you know, the one where you combine your MOTHER'S MAIDEN NAME and the name of your FIRST/FAVOURITE PET)

Hadn't heard of that (sheltered upbringing). That would make my first name Sally, which I think would lead to disappointment as I don't have the features one would expect of someone named Sally.

I once had a project in Clarges Mews, just off Berkley Sq, and not far from where the old MI6 HQ (or other office) was located and every time I'd walk pass to go to the site, I'd wave at the cameras. I know, it's silly, but that probably ticked them off a lot more than writing watchwords on a bomb making car forum.

If I knew what I was getting into, I wouldn't have done it...and I would have been wrong.

It crossed my mind as I typed the post, Colonel. As it is, web companies have a habit of selling our addresses to anybody who will pay the right price.
