I was sat on the bus t'other day while reading Autocar and it struck me that buses aren't all that bad. They can be quite civilized actually.

There is a bus company near me called Autocar would you believe!

I should also say that my day to day transport is a C-Max 2.0 tdci but that I was going on the sauce for a few hours hence catching the bus.

It wasn't a hardship, nice view, someone else driving, can't complain.

Some of the modern Dennis Enviro double deckers in London (try any after 11 plate) have chilled air vents on the top deck. Whilst not technically air-conditioning it more or less serves the same purpose and makes for a nice cool journey on a hot day.

Still, not a patch on the old iconic Routemaster though...

I remember getting on the No13 Routemaster at Swiss Cottage about 20 years ago and a gentleman next me must have been wearing a wig as the said wig disappeared out the back of the bus when someone opened a window up front.

He hopped off at Baker Street rather sharply.

I know I shouldnt feed but I love it - no one is giving you attention so you give it to Your self. You really didn't get enough hugs as a child did you.

Full-size buses are quite comfortable and have the advantage of dropping you off in right in the middle of town and city centres; midibuses unforunately tend to have less legroom than the rear of a Mini and are best avoided if possible. All they really need to do to improve things is get rid of the Metro newspapers, they get all over the floor and make even the smartest bus look like the area outside a chippy on a Friday night. Sad

I heard an advert on my local radio station about buses (Stagecoach Goldline) with "fine, hand stitched italian leather seats", that made me laugh.

Sure I did. Your Mum was most obliging. I thought the need to shout 'I'm going to blow....ahh...ahh...ahhh...HERE I CUUUUUUUMMM!' was almost too loud at times though. Halogen days.
