I went to pick my car up yesterday from a the dealership that is shared with Lamborghini. They had a few Aventadors in the showroom, and being the first time I'd seen them in the metal, was a bit blown away.
The car truly is a piece of automotive art, in the same way a Ducati bike appeals to one appreciation of aesthetics. I found the design spectacular, the interior magnificent but the sheer size a bit intimidating. I'm sure it would be a lot harder to punt down a B road than a 911.
All of that said, I wouldn't give up 310k of my own money. I think it is something to be admired from afar. After all, it requires a certain personality to want to turn up anywhere in such conspicuity, especially in bright orange metallic.
If you win euro millions, will you have one yourself, or buy it for someone else?

I have yet to check my ticket (is it yet another rollover?). It would have to be a massive win buit yes I would. It has never been ferrari for me (like them, dont love them). Porsche 911 NO, cayman maybe. Audi R8....almost etc etc. When it comes to complete animalistic, brute force, styling that is not necessarily pretty but still makes your jaw drop and is a total attention grabber (thats good and bad, like a ferrari could only ever wish for) etc etc.
There are I am sure many better cars in so many specific areas but these are only good for bar room bragging and track days out. Fill a car park with supercars and everyone will spend more time round the lambo. Just my opinion of course....
Next web site this morning...National Lottery here we come (getting ready for massive dissapointment).

I'd give it a go but just to get the Lamborghini experience out of my system. My euro millions would be spent in the back of Classic Car I suspect.

If I'd won the 148 million that somebody in the UK won last night I'd have a different one for every day of the week, in different colours.
Of course if I actually played the lottery it would be a helpful start.

I agree, the latest supercars dont have the same appeal as their earlier versions from my youth did back then.
The back of Classic Car has so many wonderful ways to spend the jackpot, i am sure i would enjoy spending the money and owning and driving the cars far more.
However if anyone wants to lend me their Aventador to prove me wrong...........

Matte black for me please. And punch a hole in the exhaust while you're at it.
You know, I do believe that is a 'pec'...

Their demo car (of which I was offered a test!) was a metallic or pearl black, and in my opinion was far more tasteful than the orange car. I did discuss the exhaust with salesbloke, and as you'd expect it has some valves that open up under full load above the drive-by test speeds.
He was adamant that there was no bypass to permanently open the system, which would have driven me mad. I suggested that on top of the 310k one would need to spend a further 12 grand on a Tubi exhaust.
"no way,", said the man, "it'll invalidate your warranty.".
Call me old fashioned, but in the unlikely event of my spending detached house money on a supercar, I would insist that it sounds like God's own thunder. But hey, if you win 148 million, do you really need a warranty???

Very wise thinking. Aston DBR1 anyone?

I'd be looking long and hard at a 288GTO as a minimum.

There's a sports option for those who think the normal exhaust just isn't enough and, if the valve system is anything like the one on the 458, then it's just a matter of disconnecting a couple of hoses and stuffing them with golf tees and then the valves stay open all the time.
Not sure the Tubi would void your warranty. Lots of guys are sticking them on the 458 and it seems that Ferrari have to prove that it was a direct cause of any issue before they can void your warranty.
You really must take that test drive. You owe it to the rest of us!
