What is the Autocar road test?
Our road test is the most comprehensive car assessment in the business. Autocar is proud to remain the only car magazine to produce a full set of performance figures on every car it road tests. Instead of accepting the acceleration, top speed and braking figures quoted by the maker of a car, we attach timing gear and produce our own. Where's it's appropriate, our road testers produce benchmark circuit lap times with the cars we assess, and through their extensive experience, those same testers can judge exactly how accomplished any given new car is, and where it sits in relation to the class standard. And we’ve been doing this for 75 years; when it comes to car criticism, that makes us unique.
