Review 23 September 2011

The all-new BMW M5 produces a mind-numbing 552bhp from its twin-turbocharged V8 engine. That's enough to launch the 1870kg super-saloon to 62mph in just 4.5 sec and on to a top speed of 190mph when coupled with BMW's M driver’s package. In our second part to our teaser video, Steve Sutcliffe takes this handsome brute for a smokey spin.

More visceral than the M4 coupé thanks to more audible exhaust and well-controlled swirl of air in the cabin, but dynamics suffer slightly
