Just 300 examples of VW's special Amarok Dark Label pick-up are available, each priced from £31,350

Volkswagen has revealed a limited-edition Dark Label version of its Volkswagen Amarok pick-up truck.

Just 300 examples will be available, each featuring a range of black styling additions. The four-wheel-drive Amarok comes with the range-topping 178bhp 2.0-litre BiTDI engine, and is offered with a choice of a six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic gearbox.

Additions for the Dark Lable include extended wheel arches, housing black 18-inch alloy wheels, plus a new rough terrain guard mounted underneath the front bumper.

Also included are dark tinted rear and side windows and darkened tail lights. The dark theme continues on the inside, with anthracite Alcantara upholstery and Dark Label branded floor mats.

Prices for the Amarok Dark Label start at £31,350, or £26,125 without VAT – as the car would be if ordered as a business vehicle. It will be available to order later this month.

I still prefer...

... a F-150 SVT Raptor.

VW really needs to...

Sell a version of this in the States. With GM bringing back their compact pick up from next year this with a V6 and diesel option would be a decent competitor even if it would have to be built here in a slightly decontented form to make the price attractive.

Interesting you consider it a 'compact pick-up' as

The Amarok is huge here in the UK. I remember seeing a massive Nissan truck last time I was in the States (Titan?). You could park this VW on the pick up bed of one of those.

Sounds very unsafe....

Dark glass, dark lights, dark wheels.
