Watch the Range Rover Evoque's Kensington launch

Watch the new Range Rover LRX launch live on Autocar.

The much-anticipated new compact Range Rover, which our spy shots have shown looks very like the LRX concept shown at the 2008 Detroit motor show, is due to be unveiled tonight at 8.30pm.

All versions of the LRX are likely to use a version of the Freelander’s drivetrain, with a revised specification of that car’s PSA-sourced 2.2-litre turbodiesel engine producing around 185bhp.

It will also be the first manual Range Rover since 2002, because a six-speed manual 'box will be standard. The front-drive model will emit less than 130g/km of CO2; four-wheel-drive LRXs will emit around 140g/km.

Come on then, what's the odds that the show-car will be left hand drive? At mid-afternoon in the US, what a coincidence.

Oh dear, how embarrassing? I turned back on to see an exhibition on how not to do an exhibition! I was squirming. And yes, it is left hand drive. Why LR? Why?

Now Victoria Beckham(????) is there acting weird and playing with her hair! Could this be any worse?

That was really funny. Enjoyed that. It was great car crash tv. But I did think the Range Rover EVOKE was nice....

I have to agree, the Range Rover Evoke does look stunning. Can't believe they managed to get it to look so close to the concept. Well done!
