The much-anticipated new compact Range Rover, which our spy shots have shown looks very like the LRX concept shown at the 2008 Detroit motor show, is due to be unveiled tonight at 8.30pm.
All versions of the LRX are likely to use a version of the Freelander’s drivetrain, with a revised specification of that car’s PSA-sourced 2.2-litre turbodiesel engine producing around 185bhp.
It will also be the first manual Range Rover since 2002, because a six-speed manual 'box will be standard. The front-drive model will emit less than 130g/km of CO2; four-wheel-drive LRXs will emit around 140g/km.

Yeah...if I'd been told to shush and then treated to an hackneyed "gag" about David Blaine, I think I'd have gone and bought an X6 out of spite...for the Vogue gag, a Gemballa Cayenne.

You should have watched it live! It could be argued that she was the best thing - and she was awful! There was some grey-haired bloke (who is apparantly on Big Brother (says it all)) who tried to be funny, the show was seven minutes late, the box containing the car wouldn't open and started to smoke, and we never even got to see inside the car. The 'show' was like it was put together by some junior school kids. Truly, I've never seen a launch this bad, and I was squirming with embarrassment. And then the Beckham woman came on!
Just an edit to say that LR have just revealed that she has been asked to work on the design of the interior!!! I kid you not, it's on world-wide news! I mean, she knows everything about interior car design, doesn't she? Oh Land Rover, whatever has happened to you?
