These are the first spy pics of what is believed to be the Porsche 918 Spyder Race Track package.

The more focused track version of the 918 Spyder will be sold at a premium price, and comes with a stripped-out interior and the option of no paint. The weight saving is reported to be around 30kg.

The target weight for the standard car, which is powered by a race-derived 4.6-litre V8 and two electric motors producing 762bhp and 552lb ft in total, is “less than 1700kg” according to Porsche.

Around 20 per cent of customers are expected to take up the option. In total, 918 cars will be sold, with production due to begin on 18 September 2013. By the time the car goes on sale Porsche estimates that at least 90 per cent of the production run will be sold.
