The first in a line of Nismo models will be unveiled at Le Mans this weekend, alongside the company's Juke R and DeltaWing racer

The Nissan Juke Nismo will be unveiled in full production specification at this weekend’s Le Mans 24 Hours. The Juke is the first in a line of Nismo products from Nissan’s performance and motorsport arm.

The Juke Nismo carries a version of the standard Juke’s 1.6-litre DIG-T direct injection turbocharged engine. Nissan hasn't released power figures, but it will offer notably more than the 187bhp produced by the standard engine, although less than the 485bhp Juke R.

Stiffened suspension, modifications to the steering and torque vectoring are claimed to offers improved the Juke’s grip and cornering capacity.

Nismo has developed a styling kit for the car, which was unveiled in concept form at the 2011 Tokyo motor show. It features new front and rear bumpers, wider wings and side skirts. A modified grille and tailgate spoiler are said to reduce front and rear lift, without increasing drag. New 18-inch alloy wheels are fitted.

The steering wheel, pedals, gauges, gear knob and door trims have been redesigned and the model carries suede-trimmed Nismo sports seats with red stitching.

The Juke Nismo sits alongside the limited production Nissan Juke R, and will be built at Nissan’s Sunderland plant. European sales will start in January 2013.

Phrase that springs to mind...

... is one involving a Silk Purse made out of a Sow's ear...

You couldn't make that car any more ill-propotioned if you took a 12lb hammer to it!
