New GT concept features new powertrain, but won't reach production

This is the GQ by Citroen, a new concept car designed to provide "the ultimate gentleman’s drive".

It features a new plug-in hybrid powertrain, which features a 1598cc, four-cylinder direct injection petrol engine.

It travels from 0-60mph in 4.5seconds, has an electronically limited top speed of 155mph and Co2 emissions of 80g/km. No other details have been given.

The car has officially been created as a collaboration between Citroen and GQ magazine, and insiders say there are no production plans for the car.

It was designed to a brief set out by GQ editor Dylan Jones and created by a design team headed by Mark Lloyd, who most recently styled the DS3.

The car’s cabin is accessed by rear coach doors. The interior has been designed to be "spacious, comfortable and futuristic", and its interior details and interior were created by Patrick Grant, the creative director of Savile Row tailors E.Tautz.

Lloyd said: "Where this car works so well with GQ is that it fits with the current attitudes of conspicuous consumption. It is understated rather than in-your-face and sleek rather than too macho."

Jones said: "The GQ car needed to have the “want” factor, but it also needed to look, feel and drive like the sort of car no sane man could choose to ignore. We think it looks very special.’

What utter drivel.

Impressive. Let's hope they can keep it identical to the concept and have a long awaited replacement for the SM

It will still have Citroen's crap warranty - and one day out of it will get you no attention from Citroen, so why would I, or anyone else, be interested in it?

Smart looking car and unlike many concepts I can imagine this one making it to production pretty much untouched.

I think it looks fabulous; not sure about those lower air vents, though. I hope this is what future DS5 will look like.

Quite a surprise this, makes me wonder why they didn't show it at Geneva?! This could make production relatively unscathed as the others have said... it's got a hint of the C-Metisse concept car from a few years ago, particular the shape of the side windows. I'm liking the direction Citroen are going in.

I like it, but i don't think it's SM-replacement good. Any new SM should be something bats**t, completely out of this world insane. This is a very smart looking car that could easily come to life as a DS5.

i like the design but it wouldnt matter i would be aswell standing next to a drain and throw my money in rather than buy a big Citroen
so why would I, or anyone else, be interested in it?
perhaps because its an interesting piece of design with an innovative powertrain ? Citroen are showing this as a concept car that they say will not make production as such, so any talk about warranties, crap or not, is the real irrelevance.

Really great looks and an interesting set of performance and drivetrain figures; nice to see Citroen on a roll on the design front at the moment, let's hope that these sort of ideas do appear in some production cars in the not too distant future.
