The Dacia Duster SUV will cost less than £10k; first deliveries in January

Renault’s budget brand Dacia has confirmed the Skoda Yeti-sized Dacia Duster SUV will cost less than £10,000 when the car is officially launched in the UK at the beginning of 2013. All-wheel drive versions of the Duster will be priced from £12.5k.

Prices of the Ford Fiesta-rivalling Dacia Sandero supermini - which will be launched at the same time - will start at less than £7k.

The Dacia Duster will be produced as a right-hand drive model for the first time at the new Renault-Nissan Alliance factory in India.

In Europe, the Duster will be available in two and four-wheel drive, with either a 108bhp 1.6-litre 16V petrol engine or 84bhp and 104bhp 1.5-litre diesels. It is billed as a genuine off-roader when fitted with four-wheel drive, thanks, Dacia says, to its 20cm ground clearance, 30 degree approach angle and 35 degree departure angle.

Further details including exact pricing and range line-up, will be confirmed on June 28.

Re: Dacia Duster from ‘under £10k’

The Duster will be pleasantly old-fashioned in many ways and will do without most of the excesses of current car design, including expensive and needless options.
