Our review of the Volkswagen Golf GTI Clubsport is top of the charts on autocar.co.uk this week

The Volkswagen Golf GTI Clubsport has taken top spot for the most viewed reviews on Autocar for the week ending 27 November. Read on to find out what joined it in the top five.

1 - Volkswagen Golf GTI Clubsport

The hottest Volkswagen Golf GTI to date celebrates 40 years of the front-wheel-drive hot hatch from Wolfsburg.

This GTI, the Clubsport has the same turbocharged 2.0-litre four cylinder engine as the standard car (which has 217bhp) and the Performance variant (227bhp), but here it puts out 263bhp. This rises to 287bhp when the overboost function ups the turbo’s pressure from 1.9bar to 2.1bar. That's only 8bhp less than a Golf R – albeit for only 10 seconds.

This 40th anniversary version of the iconic Volkswagen has received a number of styling changes, which is said to improve the downforce of the car, while the designers have also been busy paying homage to the 1976 original as well.

2 - Audi R8 Plus

The Audi R8 V10 Plus has finally landed on UK shores. This 601bhp, 205mph behemoth uses a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox and the result is profound, but is it a five-star car?

Read on to see if the V10 R8 Plus can remain composed on broken and pockmarked UK roads.

3 - Alpina D3 Biturbo Touring

The perfect combination of practicality, power, performance and economy is encapsulated in the Alpina D3 Biturbo Touring. This 3 Series-based estate produces 345bhp from its six-pot twin-turbocharged diesel engine, capable of 52.3mpg and a top speed of 170mph.

Alpina tries to keep its cars subtle by focusing on comfort and refinement as much as power and performance. This D3 Touring is no different; engine noise is subdued despite its quad exhaust system, the suspension set-up has been fettled, and the D3 comes with additional safety equipment.

See what we make of the 170mph Alpina B3 Touring when the roads get twisty.

4 - Bentley Bentayga

The highly anticipated Bentley Bentayga is trending well once again as it attempts to break into the luxury SUV world. Equipped with a twin-turbocharged 6.0-litre W12 engine and the same underpinnings as Audi’s new Audi Q7, the Bentley gets to 62mph in 4.0sec and on to a top speed of 187mph.

The Bentayga is awash with outstanding numbers, from its power output of 600bhp and 664lb ft at its peak, through to its W12 engine weighing in 30kg lighter than its predecessor.

Find out how well the Bentley Bentayga tackles the asphalt and the rough stuff in our review.

5 - Ford Ecosport 1.0 140 Titanium S

The Ford Ecosport Titantium S takes fifth spot this week. The much-maligned baby SUV has been improved, with retuned steering, lower suspension, different damper and spring rates, and more sound insulation. The sportier Titantium S version is equipped with a 138bhp 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine found in the Red/Black edition of the Fiesta.

Let’s see if Ford has rectified the issues that plagued the last Ecosport and whether the Titanium S lives up to its sporty credentials.
