1 - Volkswagen Golf GTI Clubsport
The hottest Volkswagen Golf GTI to date celebrates 40 years of the front-wheel-drive hot hatch from Wolfsburg.
This GTI, the Clubsport has the same turbocharged 2.0-litre four cylinder engine as the standard car (which has 217bhp) and the Performance variant (227bhp), but here it puts out 263bhp. This rises to 287bhp when the overboost function ups the turbo’s pressure from 1.9bar to 2.1bar. That's only 8bhp less than a Golf R – albeit for only 10 seconds.
This 40th anniversary version of the iconic Volkswagen has received a number of styling changes, which is said to improve the downforce of the car, while the designers have also been busy paying homage to the 1976 original as well.
