Go-faster Octavia vRS gets 227bhp from its turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol engine, as well as an electronic diff lock as standard

Skoda has revealed a new go-faster version of the Octavia vRS at the Geneva motor show.

The Octavia vRS 230 gets 227bhp from its turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol engine - 10bhp more than the standard car - which is enough to provide a 0-62mph sprint time of 6.7 seconds and a top speed of 155mph.

Those numbers make it the fastest series production Skoda ever made.

The vRS 230 is also the first Skoda to feature an electronic differential as standard, which the Czech manufacturer says helps with “more dynamic cornering".

Featuring more aggressive bodywork than the standard vRS, the sporty Skoda also gets bespoke seats and cabin trim.

Set to go on sale in Europe in June in both hatchback and estate forms, the vRS 230 is expected to command a premium over the £24,100 standard vRS, although official pricing has yet to be revealed.

Joining the vRS 230 in Geneva is the new Skoda Superb and the Fabia Monte Carlo.

An addition or replacement?

Is this model in addition to the standard vRS, akin to adding the Performance Pack to a Golf GTI, or does it replace it?

Nice! Still, its less

Nice! Still, its less powerful and more expensive than say a Focus ST. Though I guess it will be better specced.
