Mitsubishi is keen on getting involved in an electric race championship

Mitsubishi is keen to pursue FIA president Jean Todt's idea for an electric F1 series.

Mitsubishi president Osamu Masuko said that the manufacturer is “very interested” in the idea and that “our employees are saying that we should definitely do it.”

Despite the firm’s withdrawal from the Dakar Rally, coupled with the controversy surrounding the future of the Evo, the electric series will see the company back in the motorsport arena, a move which will also “contribute to the technological development of cars that are already on the market," Masuko added.

The FIA is hoping to hold an electric race series on the F1 bill to raise the profile of electric cars with consumers.
