Alfa Romeo will have a strong presence at Geneva as it celebrates its 100th anniversary. The Giulietta, the car on which Alfa is pinning its survival hopes, will be revealed, alongside specially commissioned concepts from Pininfarina and Bertone.

Elsewhere, we’ll get our first look at the new Volkswagen Touareg and Porsche Cayenne off-roaders. Geneva will be a busy show for Porsche, because it is also launching the 911 Turbo S and its future Le Mans challenger, the hybrid 911 GT3 racer.

Production-ready cars on show at Geneva include Renault’s twin new coupe-convertibles, the Twingo-based Wind and the Megane, and Nissan’s new Micra supermini. Nissan will also display its new baby crossover, the Juke.
The show is likely to be dominated by Audi’s new A1 supermini, which is poised to become the firm’s biggest-selling model ever. Other show stars include the five-door Mini Countryman and the European version of Ford’s third-generation Focus.
STOP HYPING UP AUDI!!! A bland same-again 3 door hatch is NOT going to dominate a show which includes Alfa Romeos make-or-break model (by all accounts), stunning Alfa concept cars (I am guessing they will be stunning), the car likely to be the new decades bestselling car (the new Focus), the love-it-or-hate it Nissan Juke (I love it), the divisive Mini Countryman, a Bentley shooting brake special, to name but a few. This is set to be one of the best motor shows for years!!! & the A1 will NOT be the star of the show, I can assure you!!! (least memorable maybe!!)

You might not like it, but the reality is the launch of a new Audi model line in a market segment it has not occupied before is bound to be one of the highlights of the show.

Yeah, the A1 will probably be a big launch considering it's their first car in the segment (like when Alfa launched the MiTo after being absent from small cars for such a while), but I'm looking forward to seeing what else springs up. I'm hoping for another concept of some sort from Citroen, some surprises from Renault and Peugeot, Volkswagen, everyone really! :D

The Audi A1 is already an important car as Audi sold more cars in January 2010 than any other premium carmaker in the world and the VW group sold more cars in that same month than any other carmaker in the world. Like cars from other succesfull carmakers you can immediately see from which make the car is and that is exactly the reason why cars from one producer look alike.

motorshows are bit of a waste of time. as you can see the latest car in your local showroom, or even better on the road. in fact many motor manufacturers now don't bother with the expense of these shows.

classic cars shows are good though. see some real cars.

Not to mention the Cylons from Battlestar Galactica!
