Alpina has revealed its new Alpina B3 Biturbo at the Geneva motor show.
The BMW 3-series-based model will reach the UK in the summer in both saloon and Touring body styles. Pricing is yet to be confirmed. Alpina has described the car as being the most in-depth engineering it has ever undetaken.
Power comes from a twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre straight-six engine that produces 404bhp and 442lb ft of torque. Mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission, the engine helps propel the rear-drive B3 from 0-62mph in 4.2sec and onto a 190mph top speed.
Economy is rated at 37.2mpg and CO2 emissions are 177g/km in the saloon.
A host of familiar Alpina chassis and styling upgrades have also taken place on the B3 over the 3-series. An all-wheel-drive version of the B3 is also planned, but not in right-hand drive.
An XD3 Biturbo was also shown. It market the first SUV Alpina has done, prompted by the success of the X3. It uses a D5 drivetrain coupled to a 2993cc straight six diesel engine. Power figures are suggested to be 345bhp at 4000rpm and 516lb ft from 1500-3000 rpm. Alpina claims it's the most powerful diesel SUV on the market with a time of 4.9sec in gettting to 62mph, top speed is 146mph.
