A concept version of the Q60 was unveiled at the Detroit motor show in January, and now this heavily disguised version of the production car has been seen for the first time.

The Q60 is set to be the replacement for the G37 coupe, making it Infiniti’s latest challenger to the likes of the BMW 4 Series and Audi A5 coupes. The two-door model will most likely carry over the sporty, sweeping lines of the concept, going by the disguised prototype.

When it was revealed, the Q60 concept came with a 444bhp twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine, coupled to a seven-speed automatic transmission. This engine was described as being part of a new generation of Infiniti powertrains that are due to be launched within the next two years.

The concept also featured Infiniti’s electrically assisted steering system, dubbed Direct Adaptive Steering, which first appeared on the Q50.

The finished version of the Q60 will go on sale towards the end of 2016, following a reveal at a motor show earlier in the year. Given that it is expected to be more important to the US market, it is more likely to make its debut at an American show, with New York in April one possibility.
