New concept heading for Detroit motor show 2012; shows off new Lexus styling direction

Lexus will unveil a new concept vehicle at the Detroit motor show next month, which will showcase the new design direction embraced by the manufacturer.

No details have been issued by Lexus apart from two teaser pictures. The latest one is this interior image. Previously, an image was shown of the front of the car, which has been designed by Calty, the company’s design studio in Newport Beach, California.

Calty works on design and product development for Lexus as well as sister brands Toyota and Scion. It produced previous Lexus concept vehicles such as the LF-Ch, the five-door hatchback concept unveiled at the Frankfurt motor show in 2009.

The image hints at a sportscar or coupé shape, and more details are expected to be revealed by Lexus next week.

The picture bears a slight resemblance to the convertible Lexus LF-A concept first shown at the Detroit show back in 2008, although drop-top version of the 500bhp, 5.0-litre V10 machine was never made and is believed to have been axed.
