Goodwood or bust

Hilton Holloway
I'm on the last leg of a three-day dash from Ferrari's Maranello factory to the Festival of Speed at Goodwood. Ferrari wanted to demonstrate the California and F430 Scuderia Spider 16M on the Goodwood hillclimb this weekend, and thought it might be a good idea to let journalists act as delivery drivers.

I'm not the most prolific trans-continentall driver, so this has been something of an experience.

Despite its reputation, the Scuderia is neither a handful or an uncouth beast. In fact, it has been a surprisingly civilised companion even on long motorway drags across central France.

So now I'm off for Calais and the Eurotunnel, before taking on the M25 and getting the Ferrari to Goodwood in pristine condition.

There's no doubt, though, this has been the delivery drive of a lifetime.

And you can read about it in next week's magazine.

Hope they paid you union rates.

I don`t want to sound too disparaging, and presumably you were slowed down by the constraints of taking photographs, but 3 days from Maranello to Goodwood is hardly a dash, is it?

Well Lancia

1.30pm on Tuesday, Goodwood at 5.30pm today. And huge amounts of photography, as you'll see in the magazine.

Thanks for replying Hilton. Obviously you can`t turn up at Maranello at 0600, jump in the car and shoot off, so you lose half a day there, and as I said, the photography would slow things down a lot. My (pedantic) comment still stands though; 3 days isn`t a "dash".

I hope you enjoyed it though.
