Jaguar committed a couple of fundamental mistakes when it created the X-type. First, it tried to make it look like a baby XJ: can't be done - and one glimpse of the strained proportions tells you why. Second, it used a Ford Mondeo platform: good call from an engineering standpoint; bad for image. Very fine chassis nonetheless.
