Nissan will give us the first indication of the car that will replace the Nissan Micra at the firm’s Sunderland plant with a concept at the Geneva motor show, the company has announced.
The Qazana concept, a small SUV crossover, “hints at the direction” of the new vehicle.
The car is a five-door hatch and will employ the same trick as the Nissan Qashqai, appealing to buyers who want the distinctive looks of an SUV without the size and social stigma.

The Qashqai has been a big success for Nissan, successfully competing against established conventional hatches such as the Volkswagen Golf and Ford Focus with its blend of SUV-style looks and hatchback practicality.
The first trial builds of the car, which is as yet unnamed, will start at the beginning of next year with full production underway towards the end of 2010 to replace the Micra, which will be built in India.
