The latest Phaeton has received subtle revisions, echoing styling from the Passat, which include LED running lights, new bumpers and new alloy wheels.

A redesigned multifunction steering wheel design, satellite navigation with Google maps and the £2045 optional 1000w Dynaudio pack with 12 speakers complete the additions to the interior.

Standard equipment includes 4MOTION four-wheel drive, eight airbags, Continuous Damping Control (CDC) adjustable air suspension, leather upholstery and 18-way adjustable electric seats.

The Phaeton is on sale in the UK now.

Probably, as the Superb has soundly beaten the 9-5 in every group test I've read.

There's nothing wrong with the Phaeton apart from the badge. That won't be a problem in some parts of the world where it will sell well.

Re: New VW Phaeton from £46,195

Jetta is smaller where as the new 9-5 is larger than A6, 5-series and E-class. It's closer to an S-Class in size (not in luxury). But if we're going to talk about sub brands than as both Autocar and Fith gear both mentioned one should buy the Skoda Superb over the new 9-5, I guess we can say the same for this odd-ball of a car.

Well You should of guessed I was going to chirp in with some SAAB reference. so here goes.
So people want a European Limo that isn't very "Hey look at me"? At what ??? 46,000 grand! And people say the new 9-5 is overpriced at 38K for the top of the range Aero?

You aren't comparing like with like, the 9-5 is (at least) one class below. You might as well just say that a Jetta is even better value.
