First of six teaser images of new Murciélago-previewing concept revealed ahead of Paris

Autocar understands the concept will feature extensive use of carbonfibre in its bodywork (which can be seen in the teaser image) and chassis as part of Lamborghini’s plans to reduce weight and cut emissions and reduce weight across its supercar range.

The new Murciélago itself is expected to be launched at the Geneva motor show in spring 2011.

The four-wheel-drive supercar will have a bespoke carbon composite chassis and a brand new 7.0-litre V12 engine, rumoured to have between 700-720bhp.

Lamborghini sources have previously told Autocar that the target weight of the new Murciélago is less than 1500kg. The firm wants its 0-62mph time to be close to 3.0sec and 0-100mph should take around 6.0sec. The firm has ruled a DSG transmission out because it would be “too complex and too expensive” to engineer.

The PR and Marketing wasters have to do something to justify their existence.

The teaser pictures are very clearly from a V10 car, so while it may have design cues of the forthcoming V12 supercar, that's not what it is.
